We recommend that you purchase and study “The Compleat Taildragger Pilot.” You should bring comfortable shoes appropriate for flying, no flip-flops or boots. We recommend bringing a light jacket as we occasionally fly with the door down and a light jacket can be handy. We provide a headset if you don’t bring your own.
C3 Tailwheel students fly a 2001 PA-18 Supercub on 31" Alaskan Bushwheels. This is an
authentic back country flying machine! You will experience grass and pavement takeoffs and
landings around the highland lakes area in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. This is pure stick &
rudder flying and always makes for an incredible Adventure.
We offer a 2 day course that will get you about 7 hours of flight time or if you are seeking that little extra adventure, we have a 3 day course that we will go to more places and get about 11 hours in the seat. We recommend the 3 day course if you plan on purchasing a cub or similar aircraft.
Basic Tailwheel Endorsement
Advanced Tailwheel Training
Take your airplane off the pavement and learn the process to mitigate the risk and the skills to make a consistent accurate approach and landing. In this course you will learn more about your airplane or fly our 2001 Piper Supercub on 31 inch Alaskan Bushwheels. This typically is a 4 day course with ground and flight operations. We have built a network of places to land off airport and have a variety of difficulty to meet your skill level. Take your flying to the next level and leave the pavement behind.
"I'd always wanted to fly a tail dragger; I wish I hadn't waited so long. It really is true stick and rudder instinctual flying and I wish I'd started 20 years ago." - Jeffery Sanders
"Tres was an AWESOME back country instructor. I've been flying more than 30 years and I couldn't believe how much fun flying low and slow could be. I highly recommend C3." - Jim Smith
